It’s 2017! And, it’s that time of year again where everyone and their dog makes the same new years’ resolutions (drink less, eat healthier, join the gym – you know the ones) that get forgotten about and then brushed under the carpet as if they never existed.
I’m not really big on new years’ resolutions, but think it’s always good to keep a mental (or literal, in this case) note of a few things you’d like to achieve in the coming year, just to make sure you’ve got at least some kinda direction in life, I suppose. These are mine.
Hello independence and eating cereal for dinner again. If you’ve read my ‘Things I miss about living away from home’ post, then you’d know that I’ve been living back at home with my parents now since July after graduating from Sheffield. It makes sense really, seeing as a) I now work about a 15 minute drive away, and b) low rent lol.
But, while all is well and good living with my parents, I would like to move out again at some point in 2017. When I get a new job (see below), I’m hoping to move in somewhere with Dom and buy loads of cute homeware stuff. Yeeeh for independence and sky-high rent.
Find a new job
I like my job now. It’s close to home and it’s the sort of role I want to progress in. It’s only maternity cover though so at some point next year I’m going to have to start looking for another job. Unemployment come at me.
I’d like to work at a relatively small content marketing or content creation company in central London. Y’know one of those new-age companies that leave early on Friday for drinks because hello weekend. Ideally, I’d like somewhere where I can stay for a few years and work my way up a bit too.
Dom has already made me aware (multiple times) that our babies are going to be snow babies. So we’ve decided to bite the bullet and go skiing next year (don’t worry babies aren’t on the agenda just yet).
He’s been skiing a few times so he’s a pro (or so he says), so even though I know absolutely nothing about skiing hopefully it won’t be like the blind leading the partially sighted. I’m not entirely sure where we’re going to go yet, but I’ve already started researching and planning, and if you have any tips or advice, I’d love to hear.
So all that’s left to say is skiing: let’s ave it, and savings account: sorry hun.
For what, I have no idea ☺. And there’s nothing that gives you more of a reality check that you’re an adult now than spending your morning comparing cash ISAs online like I just have.
Flippin’ hell. Yes, I am a believer in ‘living for the now’ and if you like them trainers then buy them trainers hun, but I think it’s probably a good idea to set some money aside every month for future me to enjoy. It’s also probably a wise idea to do this while I’m living at home and my expenses are minimal.
Still be blogging
Believe it or not, this is actually my third attempt at starting (and keeping) a blog. I’d like to think I’m a bit more serious about it this time round, and I’m hoping that I won’t have given up on it come this time next year. Patience my young paddiwan. Plus, it’ll be really interesting to see how far I’ve come with it in a years’ time.
So there are my five goals for 2017. What are yours? Leave your posts in the comments.
